Labels suggest you stop using nicotine replacements after 12 weeks at the most.
But the FDA says products can be used for longer periods of time as part of a stop smoking plan.
The agency also says nicotine replacements can be used while you're still smoking, as long as you are working to quit.
You should consult your doctor first on the use of nicotine replacements.
