Parents, are you worried about your children getting immunized?
A new report from the Institute of Medicine may help ease your fears.
Dr. Elaine Schulte with Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital says, "Parents ask lots of questions, particularly is it ok to give more than one at the same time? Is it ok to give some vaccines so close together? And again, this committee has reviewed countless papers and interviewed researchers and gone back to the manufacturers, they have done extensive review of all of the information that's currently available and have found again by and large that vaccines are safe and the schedule is appropriate."
Current recommendations call for 24 immunizations targeting 14 different diseases before age 2 and sometimes a child may receive up to 5 shots in one office visit.
