New HIV testing guidelines

There are new recommendations for HIV testing.

The United States Preventive Services Task Force says everyone ages 15 to 65, including all pregnant women, should be tested.

The expanded screening recommendations are meant to catch more cases, and prevent the spread of the virus.

About one in five people with HIV do not know they have it.

It is estimated people who do not know they have HIV transmit about 20,000 new cases a year.
