The start of flu season is weeks, if not months away, but is it too early to get that flu shot?

Some experts argue yes, especially for people age 65 and older.

Data is very mixed on how long the immunity of the vaccine lasts. Studies suggest vaccines lose some effectiveness during the course of single flu season.

Yet, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention still recommends everyone older than six months get vaccinated and some experts say the ideal time to get the shot is between Halloween and Thanksgiving.
