Health tips for Saint Patrick's Day

How to stay healthy & safe on St. Patrick's Day

BALTIMORE - You'll need more than the luck of the Irish to keep the calorie count low this Saint Patrick's Day, but it can be done.

Just make a few changes to your traditional Saint Patrick's Day favorites. Here are some ways to do it.

  • Experts suggest swapping out your buttery potatoes or potato skins for some red potatoes mixed with olive oil and cabbage.
  • Also, make your Irish soda bread with whole-grain flour instead of white flour for added vitamins and minerals.
  • And instead of green beer, try a green smoothie. You can blend green grapes, green applies, non-fat vanilla yogurt and kale.
  • And, of course, don't drink and drive.  Tipsy Taxi is offering free rides to help.
