It's National Kick Butts Day, but it's not about giving your neighbor or co-worker a swift kick in the rear. It's a nationwide initiative to teach kids about the dangers of tobacco.
Thousands of 5th graders across Harford County have pledged to never try tobacco, according to the Harford County Health Department. They have signed their names on banners that will go on display today at the health department's office building in Edgewood.
According the health department, Harford County has one of the highest rates of adult cigarette use in the state. It also has higher rates of kids using tobacco products that the state average.
