The holidays bring a lot of joy, but they can also mean a lot of stress.

Rebecca Denison, a Doctor of Integrative Medicine at GBMC, explains what happens to our bodies when we're under stress.

"Generally when we're stressed our bodies will release adrenaline and adrenaline is there because we think we need a fight or flee. But if we're just trying to cook dinner or late to an appointment we don't need that adrenaline," Denison said.

When that stressed feeling comes on, Denison recommends taking a few deep breaths, five seconds in and five seconds out, to help calm the body.

She also recommends paying attention to your body. Some people react to stress with headaches or stomach aches. Denison says these are they body's way of telling you something is wrong.
