Foods that whiten teeth

Teeth whitening treatments can cost you a small fortune, but you can whiten on the cheap just by eating certain foods.

If you are a red wine lover, try snacking on a cube of cheese before drinking.

It coats the teeth with a film to guard against stains.

Fruits and vegetables like apples, celery and carrots can help whiten your teeth too.

Dentists say these foods work by scrubbing your teeth clean with their crunchiness.

Mint leaves are another whitening food. They contain mineral compounds that can cover your teeth and protect them from stains.

Also, orange peel helps remove tartar, and baking soda mixed with lemon juice makes a great whitener.  Just be careful to use it sparingly, because of all the acid in the lemon.
