Dr. Sobel is a surgeon at the Johns Hopkins Head and Neck Center at GBMC. He says thyroid cancer is on the rise.
“It’s going up in incidents. It’s probably doubled over the past several decades. It’s probably about 7 or 8 times likelihood that it will happen in women,” says Dr. Sobel.
He said often times thyroid cancer shows no symptoms, so it can be dangerous.
Reporter Ashley James found that thyroid cancer mostly affects women and the only treatment is surgery.
