Early intervention is vital for a child with autism

Local parents share their experience with autism

BALTIMORE - This month on Good Morning Maryland at 9:00, we are continuing to shine the light on Autism Awareness. April is Autism Awareness month. Numerous research studies have found that early intervention for autism leads to improved outcomes. In our community, we are fortunate to have Kennedy Krieger, where they are now studying intervention methods for kids as young as 1 year of age.

Two people who know all about that are Todd and Teri Chason. They have three children, two have autism. The couple came on Good Morning Maryland at 9:00 to talk about early intervention. If you would like to see their interview, click on the video box on the left hand side of your screen.

A fundraiser for Autism is coming up. ROAR for Autism is a bike ride, nature walk and family fun festival to raise funds for autism research at Kennedy Krieger. ROAR for Autism is Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville. For additional information, www.ROAR.kennedykrieger.org.
