The type of sport kids play can have a big impact on the health of their brain.

Researchers in Toronto released a study analyzing the brains of more than 60 young, varsity athletes.

They divided them into three categories: collision sports like football, contact sports like soccer and non-contact sports like swimming. They found significant differences in the brains of athletes who played contact sports such as decrease in brain activity and reduced communication between brain areas like the regions involving vision and motor functions.

The study also found brains of those who had concussion histories were amplified.
