Big calories await at theater snack lines

NEW YORK - Americans love their movies, and their movie theater snacks, but a new report looks at how certain treats can take a toll on your waistline.

The new issue of Consumer Reports looks at the nutrition of some popular movie snacks and the results are pretty scary.

The Consumer Reports tally found the largest size buttered popcorn at major movie chains could reach as many as 1,591 calories, cheese nachos, as high as 907, pretzels and cheese, as many as 1,056, and non-diet soda, reaching almost 700.

Consumer Reports also suggests eating a meal before you get to the theater, so those jumbo-sized snacks don't seem so alluring.
