FBI agent found guilty in fatal car crash

UPPER MARLBORO. Md. -

FBI agent Adrian Johnson was found guilty Thursday by a Prince George's County jury on all counts in the death of Lawrence Garner, Jr.  The jury took two hours to convict Johnson of motor vehicle manslaughter, homicide by motor vehicle while intoxicated, causing a life-threatening injury while impaired by alcohol and related charges.

"This was a terrible tragedy that never had to occur," said Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks. "A young man lost his life because of the reckless actions of Mr. Johnson.  Regardless of the nature of your job, nobody is above the law and I am pleased that a jury of his peers has held Mr. Johnson responsible for his actions."

He is facing a maximum of 13 years in prison when he is sentenced on December 14th.  Johnson's bond was revoked and he was remanded into custody.

On February 7, 2011, Garner made a left turn onto North Keys Rd from a residential driveway.  After Garner made it almost entirely to the westbound lane, a vehicle driven by Johnson struck Garner's vehicle.  Johnson was traveling 58 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone and was later found to be intoxicated at the time of the collision.
