Years of bullying push a New York teenager to commit suicide

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY - Family and friends are mourning the loss of a Buffalo, New York teenager.  Nearly 30 people gathered for a vigil dedicated to the struggle of 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer.

The teenager was gay and tormented by bullies until he took his own life.  Jamey made a video and posted it online saying he was taunted in the hallways and felt he could never escape it.

Those paying tribute to the teenager say the old rules about name calling don't seem to work anymore.  Some have suggested school officials could have done a better job protecting students like Jamey.

He was inspired by Lady Gaga and her message born this way.

The Superintendent of the Williamsville Central Schools District says administrators are being proactive and trying to figure out what to do better.  He says kids must realize their words can hurt and are very powerful.
