Two Baltimore City High Schools become first in the state to offer P-TECH program

Governor Larry Hogan and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will celebrate the launch of Carver Vo-Tech and Dunbar High School's "P-Tech" program Thursday.

P-TECH Carver and P-TECH Dunbar are the first schools in the state to offer the six-year initiative. 

The goal is to prepare students for jobs in health and computer sciences.

Those who graduate from the program will receive their high school diploma and an associate's degree.

IBM will partner with P-TECH Carver with a degree focus in cybersecurity and information technology (IT).

Johns Hopkins University, Kaiser Permanente, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore will serve as partners for P-TECH Dunbar with a degree focus in health IT.

Both sites each will receive $100,000 in grant funding from the state.
