BEL AIR, Md - All is quiet at the Maryland Golf and Country Clubs in Harford County, but soon it will be filled with people supporting the Highlands School. It's part of the 10th Annual Golf Tournament and Third Annual Tennis Tournament.
It's a fundraiser for the Highlands School in Bel Air to offset expenses for students.
"Our community has been very supportive. We have a unique mission where our students come to us for a short period of time and they transition back into a school setting," said Beth Baker, Director of Development with the Highlands School.
The Highlands School serves children with Dyslexia and other language based learning problems in Kindergarten to eighth grade. The school offers everything from social studies to math, science, physical education and art.
Administrators say small class sizes are a must for student learning. The community has teamed up to help the Highlands School with the fundraiser.
"It's an easy cause to get behind. It's a great group we have working here on the fundraiser, but getting behind helping kids with their education desires and needs and goals is a easy thing to get people to support you with," said Tony Steelman, Tennis Tournament Chair.
The Golf and Tennis Tournament Fundraiser will be held on Monday October 8th from 9am to 9pm at the Maryland Golf and Country Clubs in Harford County.
