Dr. Kevin J. Manning, president of Stevenson University, retired Tuesday after 16 years with the school, according to the chairman of the university's board.
James B. Stradtner, chairman of the school's Board of Trustees, Stevenson University, said in a statement that Manning is retiring to "attend to some important but manageable health issues."
Manning had previously announced his retirement effective June 30, 2017.
Stradtner said the board is conducting its search for Stevenson's next president, which should wrap up in the spring.
Claire Moore, the school's vice president of Student Affairs and a Villa Julie alumna, will serve as interim president. The name of the school was changed from Villa Julie to Stevenson in 2008.
"The entire Board of Trustees and Stevenson community are grateful to Dr. Manning for his 16 years of service," Stradtner said in a statement. "He transformed Stevenson from a local commuter college to a regional university, and guided the institution through a name change, the creation of seven schools, the doubling of its enrollment, and secured Stevenson's reputation as a national leader in career education. We could not have come so far without his leadership."
