PA man walks 600 miles to fight bullying

600 mile anti-bullying walk stops in Baltimore

BALTIMORE - George Ewing is serious about stopping bullying. So serious that he is walking 600 miles to bring attention to the problem that killed his friend Brandon Bitner.

Bitner recently committed suicide, now termed "bullyside," because of the bullying he experienced at school.

"As a teenager I was bullied and actually dropped out of school because it was so bad," said Ewing.

"I was one of the lucky ones who made it through, but children and teenagers like Brandon illustrate that bullying is a very real thing with dire consequences. This walk is for all of the Brandon's of the world and I truly hope that this demonstration encourages parents, teachers, students, friends and families to talk with each other about bullying and ways to stop it."

Ewing is participating in the No More Bullies Walk from Scranton to Greensboro, N.C. His journey will take him through cities in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina and will end on May 31.

Ewing will be in Baltimore on Wednesday, May 11 at 4pm at the National Aquarium, and in Washington DC on May 12 and 13.
