National Bullying Prevention Month Campaign begins today

GAMBRILLS, Md. - Governor Martin O'Malley and First Lady Judge Katie O'Malley, as well as educators, a Facebook vice president and others will kick off a National Bullying Prevention Month Campaign today.

The goal is to combat bullying .

The Governor and First Lady will encourage students, parents, communities and schools to stand up against bullying by taking the stop bullying speak-up pledge.

October is also Parental Involvement in Education Month. Educators also encourage parents to take an active role in their children's lives by joining efforts to prevent bullying.

Maryland is the 7th state to enact an anti-bullying law that protects all students.

The event kicks off at 8:45 this morning at Arundel High School.
