Joppa Teen publishes her first novel

JOPPA, Md - It's not your usual book signing at Greetings and Readings in Hunt Valley.  15-year-old Kacie Bawiec has published her first novel called, "Silver Dagger."

She's signing books and greeting fans.

"I just started writing one day.  I've always enjoyed it.  I began writing and I started to love my characters and I had to tell their stories," said Kacie Bawiec, Author.

Kacie has been writing stories since Elementary School. Her parents encouraged her to finish the story and promised to help her get it published.

Kacie finished the fantasy manuscript in the eighth grade. Soon she was picked up by Tate Publishing, a Publishing House that specializes in young authors.

"I am so proud of her. She's been writing forever.  She has been carrying around notebooks since fifth grade and we are very excited," said Karen Bawiec, mother.

Silver Dagger tells the story of Cassandra Monroe.  She felt like the world ended when her younger sister Emery committed suicide.

Cassandra spends the next few months after her sisters death trying to find the answers.  Kacie hopes readers will enjoy her work.

She wants to encourage writers to keep striving for success.

"I want readers to think that it's possible to write even when you are young. I want them to take from the book that one decision can affect a lot of lives because that is what happens she commits suicide and  it snow balls into everything that happens in the book," said Kacie.

Kacie is enrolled in the Science and Math Academy at Aberdeen High School. She is excited to have Author as a possible career choice.

Kacie has started working on her second novel.
