2 Carroll County schools receive grant for anti-bullying efforts

SYKESVILLE, Md. - A new campaign to fight bullying in schools came to Carroll County Wednesday, to visit two schools who received a grant for their anti-bullying efforts.

The nationally known assembly, known as "Rachel's Challenge," was presented to the Oklahoma Road and Sykesville Middle Schools today.

The schools were awarded a grant from the Carroll County Public Schools Education Foundation, to bring the program to their schools.

Both of the schools say they hope to use this assembly to help spread a school wide approach to bullying, and create an environment where students don't have to worry about being bullied.

"Rachel's Challenge" was founded by the father of Rachel Scott, who was the first person killed at Columbine High School in 1999.

Wednesday night at seven, a community assembly will be held for families at the Oklahoma Road Middle School.
