COLUMBIA, Md. (WMAR) -
A Columbia teen has been arrested and charged as an adult for his role in an armed robbery this week which the victim was held at gunpoint.
Dymtro Klopp, 16, was charged as an adult with armed robber, robbery, first and second degree assault, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of marijuana.
The robbery happened on November 14, shortly after 6:00 p.m. in the 10400 block of Fair Oaks in Columbia. A man was getting his mail when he was approached by three males, one of whom placed a gun against his head and demanded money.
The victim turned over his wallet and the suspects fled.
Investigators familiar with other recent incidents recognized that the description of the suspect with the gun matched a local teen, Klopp, who lives a half-mile from the robbery scene.
The next day, officers saw Klopp with two other teens who matched the suspect descriptions, walking in the area of Freetown Road.
When approached by an officer, the teens ran. When they caught up with Klopp, he was carrying marijuana.
He was arrested for drug possession. When searched, officers found a Visa gift card that matched the description of a card stolen from the robbery victim. The Visa card was traced back to the victim.
Klopp is being held on a $85,000 bond.
Police have not yet identified the other two suspects.
