Reisterstown woman pleads guilty in kidnapping of boy

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - A 26-year-old Reisterstown woman has pleaded guilty to kidnapping in the shooting of a 15-year-old boy found lying in a Marriottsville last year.

Laura Christian Karr, of the 400 block of High Meadow Rd. pleaded guilty before Howard County Circuit Court Judge Richard S. Bernhardt earlier Monday in connection with the July 19, 2012 shooting.

According to Howard County State's Attorney's Office, the boy was abducted as he walked near his Reisterstown home, and forced into Karr's 2012 Mazda.  Karr, along with two co-defendants, drove the boy to Howard County where he was ordered out of the vehicle.  As the boy walked away he was shot in the back of the neck by Donald George Peoples, Jr.

Prosecutors are recommending a 15-year prison sentence when Karr is sentenced on Feb, 13, 2014.  Karr testified against Peoples during his trial last month. Peoples was convicted of attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping and additional charges in connection with the execution-style shooting of the teenager.  He will be sentenced on Jan, 30, 2014

On July 5, a third defendant pleaded guilty to felony charges for her role in the abduction and shooting. Chiquita Sketers, 22, of the 3400 block of Carriage Hill Circle in Randallstown, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted first-degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence.
