An office employee at Ducketts Lane Elementary School in Elkridge has been charged with stealing nearly $9,000 from the school between November 2014 and October 2015.

Twyla Renee Blackmon-Green, 50, of Hearthside Way in Elkridge, was charged with 16 counts of theft. She is no longer working at the school, according to the Howard County Public School System.

Police say school officials reported discrepancies in their account ledgers. They believed the money had been stolen by Blackmon-Green, who had access to the school's accounts and cash.

Evidence indicated Blackmon-Green stole money collected for field trips, book sales and various fundraisers. The school also provided evidence that she'd stolen a new document shredder from the school in October.

Blackmon-Green was charged in a criminal summons Monday. She's scheduled to appear in court on Mar. 10.
