COLUMBIA, Md. - Darion Aguilar committed suicide by putting the barrel of a shotgun in his mouth and pulling the trigger after killing two employees of the Zumiez store in the Mall in Columbia, a spokesman for the Chief Medical Examiner's Office said.
Brianna Benlolo, 21, and Tyler Johnson, 25, were killed on Saturday Jan. 25. The grim details of their deaths were released by the Medical Examiner's Office Tuesday.
People present at the mall during the shooting told police that they had heard multiple shots fired.
Benlolo died from gunshot wounds to the neck and chest. Johnson, officials say, was shot by Aguilar multiple times.
Howard County police said Tuesday investigators were looking to Aguilar's financial records to learn more about his activities.
Detectives are also continuing to analyze Aguilar's cell phone, which was recovered at the scene, and his computer, which was seized from his home.
