A Howard County man has been charged for sexually soliciting a child by asking a young girl to send him nude photos of herself and to meet him in person to perform sexual acts.

27-year-old William Lemus Gonzalez of Deep Run Parkway in Elkridge was arrested when he arrived at an apartment building in Columbia where he believed he was meeting a 14-year-old girl for sex. He had actually been talking to a Howard County Police detective online.

As police were transporting him to central booking, Gonzalez tried to get out of the police car. When the officer stopped to secure him, he “lunged into the front seat, tried to drive the vehicle and assaulted the officer, before being secured,” according to police.

Police say Gonzalez has been charged with “sexual solicitation of a minor, attempted motor vehicle theft, attempted escape, second-degree assault and resisting arrest”. He is being held on no bond at the Howard County Detention Center.

Police believe there may be other victims solicited by William Lemus Gonzalez; anyone who may have been victimized or that has any information is asked to contact police at 410-313-2630 or emailing HCPDcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov
