Howard County Police say a 14-year-old boy from Odenton is in critical condition after being shot late Saturday night. Police say after 11 p.m. officers and emergency responders who were already in the area were called to the 9000 block of N Laurel Rd; the victim was able to received care from fire department personnel and rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Several residents of the Whiskey Bottom Square neighborhood said that they heard the shots last night.
"It's a quiet community. We've never had anything like this happen in our neighborhood. I was shocked," said one woman who didn't want to be identified.
The resident also said some neighbors have recently complained about a group of young people hanging out near homes.
