Howard rape suspect arrested in RI

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Howard County Sheriff's Office announced Friday that a 47-year-old man wanted on a grand jury indictment for rape has been taken into custody.

Sheriff Jaes F. Fitzgerald announced Friday that Luis Reyes was taken into custody on Sisson Street in Providence, Rhode Island on September 19.

Reyes was wanted on an open grand jury indictment for 2nd degree rape, 2nd degree assault and 4th degree sex offense.

Deputies located Reyes in Rhode Island earlier in the week and contacted the Rhode Island State Police for assistance with the arrest. On September 19, Howard deputies traveled to Providence and arrested Reyes. Reyes was transported back to Maryland, and he is currently in the Howard County Detention Center under no bail status.
