COLUMBIA, Md. - Howard County Police have arrested and charged a Lansdowne man in connection with a string of purse snatchings in the Columbia Town Center area.
Police say in each case, 23-year-old Andrew Deangelo Blackstone stole a woman's purse, assaulted her, and ran away.
Police say the first purse snatching happened on the morning on June 6th.
A woman told officers she was robbed in a parking garage in the 10300 block of Swift Stream Place.
She says she was putting her purse into the trunk of her car when a man came up to her, pushed her in the back, took her purse which had an iPad and iPhone inside, and left.
The most recent purse snatching happened July 18th at about 7:30 a.m.
A woman told police she was walking to her car in a parking lot in the 10400 block of Swift Stream Place when a man came up behind her and forcibly stole her purse.
Police increased patrols in the area, and through investigation, identified Blackstone.
Police say Blackstone, who is charged with armed robbery, three counts of robbery, one count of first-degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault, four counts of theft of less than $1,000, and two counts of drug possession, often stays with a friend who lives on Swift Stream Place.
Blackstone is being held on $500,000 bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
