LAUREL, Md. - Howard County police are investigating the shooting death of a Laurel man.
Russell Elbert Rowe, 24, of Main Street, was shot around 10 p.m. Thursday on the 9400 block of Sewall Ave. Police said a resident called officers to report a pick-up truck had hit a tree in front of his property.
Rowe was found in the driver's seat, alone in the vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was flown to Shock Trauma.
Police said they believe Rowe may have been confronted by someone while sitting in his truck on Sewall
Avenue. It is unclear why Rowe was there. Investigators suspect he was shot and then likely
accelerated the vehicle, ultimately striking a nearby tree.
Detectives are continuing to investigate. Anyone who may have heard or seen something related
to this incident is asked to call police at 410-313-3200.
