A barricade situation in Ellicott City ended with the suspect being taken into custody Wednesday afternoon.

The man was making threats and refused to come out of his apartment for more than four hours, prompting Howard County Police to close off part of Court House Drive.

He agreed to leave the residence just after 3 p.m. No one was injured. Charges are pending, police said.

Police responded to the home at 10:57 a.m. after neighbors called 911 to report that the resident was behaving erratically, shouting and making threats.

The man has a history of this behavior on-record with the police department, including making threats against officers.

Police said the man refused to exit his apartment upon arrival and continued to make threats. Nearby apartments were evacuated as a precaution.
