2nd concertgoer dies after drug overdose

Police say overdose killed boys, ages 20 and 17

Another concertgoer from the Mad Decent Block Party at Merriweather Post Pavilion Friday has died from a drug overdose.

Police said Tyler Viscardi, 20, of Raleigh. N.C. was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Howard County General Hospital Friday night. Preliminarily, it appears Viscardi died of a drug overdose. Officials are still trying to determine what type of drugs were in his system.

A 17-year-old from Woodbridge, Va. was taken to the same hospital also suffering from a drug overdose.  He died Sunday night.

Police said in total 20 people were taken to the hospital during the all day concert called the Mad Decent Block Party. Many of the cases are believed to be drug related, according to officials.

In addition to the drug overdose and hospitalizations, officers issued 50 citations for underage drinking and made three arrests including one for domestic assault.  They believe the drug in question is MDMA, popularly known as ecstasy or "Molly," more recently.

The Mad Decent Block Party is a music festival that travels across the country. Howard County police said similar events have happened at other venues this summer.

Acts performing at Friday’s concerts included Cashmere Cat, Children of the Night, and Trippy Turtle.
