Woman pleads guilty in deadly crash

BEL AIR, Md. (WMAR) - A Harford County woman pled guilty yesterday in connection to a deadly crash that killed Carolyn DiCocco.

Nicole Albers pled guilty to one count of manslaughter by motor vehicle. The charges arose from the crash that happened on July 21, 2011, on Route 543 near the intersection of Foxborough Drive.

The accident claimed the life of Carolyn DiCocco, who was a passenger in the vehicle driven by her husband. The investigation revealed that Albers was traveling at a high rate of speed when she crossed over the double yellow line. Dicocco swerved to avoid her and was hit on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Subsequent testing of Albers' blood determined the presence of Alprazolam, a form of Xanax, methadone and amphetamine.

The plea agreement states that Albers will receive the maximum 10 year sentence, with all but 5 years suspended. Upon release, she will be placed on a 5-year period of supervised probation, which will include special conditions of drug treatment and testing.
