ABINGDON, Md. - Police arrested an 18-year-old man they believe is behind two burglaries in Harford County.
Officers charged Kyle Burnett Reddish of Box Hill with 2 counts of first degree burglary, 2 counts of theft and additional charges for the burglaries that took place in early January.
Police said in the early morning hours of January 9 officers were called to the 900 block of Hamburg Drive in Abingdon for a burglary in progress.
The homeowner told police around 3:30 a.m. the family was awakened by their dog barking. When they went to investigate, they saw an open closet door and the contents of a purse spilled out on the sofa. An undisclosed amount of cash was also missing from the home.
While police were at Hamburg Lane another call for a burglary came in, this time in the 2900 block of Craigston Lane. The homeowner told police he was awakened by his home alarm and called 911. A surveillance system camera captured Reddish wearing a winter coat and baseball cap going through the victim's unlocked car and then walking into the backyard and crawling through a pet door.
Nothing was stolen from the home.
Detectives used still photos from the video surveillance cameras to identify Reddish.
He was arrested at his home on January 10 and released after posting a $25,000 bond.
