She will hustle to get her three children from the house into the van, because Michaela Lumb knows a rapist remains at large who preyed upon women in the neighborhood.
"My fiance... he leaves for work around 5am so I'm kind of here with the kids by myself, and it's scary," said Lumb.
Police say 21-year-old Davonnte Oneal Sconion surfed for his victims on the web, using Backpage to arrange rendez-vous with two woman in September.
In one case, he instructed the woman to meet him at this house, which stands vacant in the unit block of Liberty Street and attempted to rape her in the cover of darkness.
"The female victim was able to thwart the attacker off while at the same time sustaining a knife wound as a result of trying to prevent the attack," said Lt. William Reiber of the Aberdeen Police Department.
Just 24 hours earlier, police say Sconion used the same means to set up a woman who arranged to meet him near Carol Avenue and he raped her at knifepoint, also robbing her before he fled on foot.
"At the end of the day, we have someone that is very predatory in nature. Very violent crimes and we're glad that we can put a face to it. He's no longer in the shadows,” said Reiber, “We can make people aware of his identity and hope that he either steps forward and turns himself in or somebody provides us information where we can track and make this arrest."
Police developed enough information to collect a DNA sample from Sconion when he was spotted in the neighborhood in the aftermath of the attacks, but he disappeared before testing produced a positive match.
