Harford County defectives are investigating new leads in the murder investigation of Thomas Anderson. Anderson was killed in front of his family during a home invasion in 2014.

Lead investigator, Det. Culver said, "With unrelated cases, we were able to recover some evidence and things we can test for the Thomas Anderson homicide," said lead investigator Det. Culver.

Criminal charges are pending, until the results are released from the new evidence.

"If his evidence comes back in our favor, we will be able to pursue some type of criminal charges," Culver said.

Detectives maintain this incident was not random and that Anderson did the best he could in defending his families' lives.

During the early morning home invasion, three suspects entered the home. Anderson's 14-year-old daughter had a gun put to her head just moments before Anderson himself was shot.

"Any father is going to go into fighting mode and do whatever they can to save his daughter," Culver said. "For somebody to do that, pure evil."

While detectives continue to investigate the murder with the initial information gathered at the crime scene, they are still seeking witnesses that may be able to identify the suspects.
