The mother of twins is in custody and her live-in boyfriend remains at large, wanted in the death of one of the baby boys in Harford County last week.

Police are looking for Keith D. Griffin, 26, of Edgewood in connection with the death of 3-month-old Aaman Perez.

Griffin and his girlfriend, 26-year-old Aja M. Terry, are charged with first-degree homicide, first-degree child abuse and first-degree assault in the death of her infant son and injuries to his twin brother.

The investigation into Aaman's death started the morning of Dec. 16 when Harford County sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 1800 block of Eloise Lane. Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said Griffin called 911 reporting the child was choking.

Deputies found the baby unresponsive and started life-saving efforts right away. Medical staff with the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company arrived a short time later and took over medical care.

Gahler said those doing CPR got a pulse back, but the 3-month-old was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical center where he was pronounced dead less than an hour after the original call.

Deputies collected evidence at the home and an autopsy later determined the baby's death was a homicide caused by head trauma.

"They're helpless. You don't want to do that to a small baby," said Elena Flores, a neighbor.

Neighbors ABC2 spoke with on Eloise Lane did not know the family very well.

Police say Aaman Perez's twin brother was injured but is expected to survive. He and his five-year-old brother are in the custody of Child Protective Services, police said.

"That's a tremendous loss to lose any sibling.  You really don't know what it feels like until it happens to you personally," said Clarence Miller, Jr., a neighbor.

Griffin and Terry both left the area before police could take them into custody.

Terry, who also lives in Edgewood, was taken into custody in Delaware Sunday morning and was awaiting extradition Monday.

Gahler said it's believed Griffin is allegedly the main contributor to the baby’s death.

Anyone with information about the baby's death or where Griffin might be is asked to call Det. Yeagy with the sheriff's office at 443-409-3420.
