EDGEWOOD, Md. (WMAR) -
Harford County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested Garfield Smith III, 21, and charged him with the double shooting and homicide of two teenagers.
Smith has been charged in the January 31 murder of Michael Wayne Kearins, 17, and the attempted murder of Christopher Thomas Cousins, 18.
Smith was taken into police custody at about 3:00 p.m. today, when deputies saw him as a passenger in a car that was driving in the Edgewater Village Community.
Smith has been charged with first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the death of Kearins, and attempted first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and reckless endangerment in the attempted murder of Cousins.
On the day of the shooting, Kearins and Cousins were hound on Candlewood Court both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Cousins remains hospitalized in good condition.
