Man charged after setting home on fire

EDGEWOOD, Md. (WMAR) - A 69-year-old man was arrested and charged for intentionally setting a fire to his home.

Deputy State Fire Marshals say they arrested William E. Lowry for a fire that occurred on October 11, 2012 at 214-B Kennard Avenue in Edgewood.

The fire was originally reported by a neighbor.

More than 30 firefighters responded from Abingdon, Joppa-Magnolia and Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Fire officials say that the fire resulted in an estimated $175,000.00 in damages.

Lowry was rescued from the basement of the home and taken to an area hospital.

Further investigation revealed that Lowry intentionally set the fire on a deck connected to the home, according to Fire Investigators.
Investigators served the arrest warrant at Harford County Detention Center. Lowry was already being held on another unrelated warrant.
Lowry will face 1st and 2nd Degree Arson charges.
State Fire Marshals say Lowry may face up to 50 years in prison and/or $80,000.00 dollars in fines.
