Juvenile charged with arson for multiple fires

Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged a 12-year-old male with arson charges for two different fires which engulfed two sheds Monday night. 

Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company firefighters extinguished a fire in the rear of 1343 and 1345 East Spring Meadow Court. After calling investigators to the scene, firefighters became aware of a brush fire in the area of Topview Drive and Horseshoe Lane. 

Witnesses said they saw four juveniles running from the area. Those juveniles were later identified.

Investigators determined the suspect ignited two brush spread and ignited the sheds. The damage is estimated to cost $15,000.

Deputy State Fire Marshals determined the shed fire was an intentional act and identified the person responsible. The juvenile has been charged with second-degree arson, first-degree malicious burning and malicious destruction of property.
