Harford County teen charged with murdering father & dumping body in pond

C. Milton Wright High student charged with murder

BEL AIR, Md. - When Harford County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the house on Moores Mill Road, they knew someone had suffered serious injuries, but they were missing two key elements---a victim and a suspect.

"When we arrived at the residence, we found evidence that there was some blood outside of the residence.  There was no one inside," said Monica Worrell of the Harford County Sheriff's Office, "Deputies entered the home and they determined that it looked like someone had been shot inside of the home."

According to charging documents, 16-year old Robert Conley Richardson III had called his sister to tell her he had shot and killed their father, and he was looking for a place to dump the body.

A Maryland State trooper spotted the victim's Chevy Trail Blazer and a chase ensued.

"The vehicle fled away from the deputy travelling southbound on Route 24 and was stopped in the Bel Air United Methodist Church parking lot when it crashed into a cinder block wall trying to flee from the deputies and the officers," said Worrell.

Police say Richardson fled on foot, but was arrested behind the church and later told police where they could find the body of his 58-year old father.

"We were able to find the body based on information that was provided to us by the 16-year old son," said Worrell, "The body was located in a pond behind a relative's residence in the 800 block of Gilbert Road in Aberdeen, Maryland."

Richardson, who is a student at C. Milton Wright High School, is now being held at the Harford County Detention Center on charges of first degree murder, second degree murder and using a handgun in the commission of a violent crime.

According to charging documents, investigators discovered blood-soaked sheets on a bed in a front room and could see a blood trail where the body may have been dragged to the base of the front porch before it was loaded into a vehicle.
