The Harford County Sheriff's Office has a new warning about a scam targeting seniors.
The Sheriff's Office calls the scam "relative in danger."
As summer gets closer, the Sheriff's Office says more people are getting calls where the caller pretends to be a relative in trouble on vacation in need of money.
The Sheriff's Office says the stories range from the relative having been robbed, to being in an accident, and even wrongly arrested.
In each case, the caller posing as a family member asks for a credit card number or wire transfer.
The Sheriff's Office says if you get a call like this, but think it could be real, hang up and try to reach the person or someone who may be able to verify the story.
You can also call the Sheriff's Office to see if anything has been reported.
