BEL AIR, Md. -
This is one for the dumb criminal record books.
Maryland State Police arrested a man who used his company van during an armed robbery in Bel Air.
Police arrested Luke Raymond Johnson, 30, of Bel Air shortly after he robbed a Sunoco gas station in the 1400 block of Rock Springs Road Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses said Johnson entered the gas station wearing a white cloth over his face and demanded cash. When the clerk hesitated he pulled a box cutter from his pants and threatened him. Johnson then fled the store and jumped into a van displaying a construction firm's name.
Police contacted the company and through employee records tracked the van to the 800 block of Chesney Lane. That's where officers found Johnson, still dressed in the clothes he wore to rob the Sunoco.
He was arrested without incident on armed robbery, assault and drug charges.
Johnson is being held at the Harford County Detention Center on $250,000 bail.
