Driver strikes 16-year-old, police car, and another car during police pursuit

Aberdeen, Md. - A 16-year-old boy is left in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle during a police pursuit.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. Aberdeen Police attempted to stop a car for a speeding violation in the 700 block of Old Philadelphia Road, but the car took off.  As the car continued to flee, the driver struck a 16-year-old on 900 block of Edmund Street, and continued to drive.

Police say the vehicle then struck a police car on Market and Edmund Streets, as well as another vehicle on Route 7.  The passenger in that vehicle was taken to Harford Memorial Hospital.

According to Aberdeen Police, the driver then got out of the car and ran after hitting the car, but Police caught up with him shortly afterwards. 

The suspect is identified as Asim J Lievers 31, of the 200 block of Mayberry Drive in Aberdeen.  He is expected to be charged with assault and numerous serious traffic offenses.  Lievers is currently being held at the Aberdeen Police Department. 

The 16-year-old boy is currently in critical condition at Bayview Medical Center.
