Two men believed to have been involved in the large scale distribution of heroin in Maryland have been arrested.

Shani McDonald, 32, of Windsor Mill and Vernon Kidd, 49, of Finksburg were arrested Monday during a traffic stop in Harford County. Over 1,000 grams of cocaine were recovered from the trunk.

Both suspects were charged with drug kingpin, possession with intent to distribute and importing a controlled dangerous Substance (CDS) import into the state.

According to police, McDonald had two established addresses along with two additional stash houses. Police obtained warrants for the residents and found almost 600 grams of heroin, $10,827 in U.S. currency and two handguns, one of which was stolen in 1995.

Investigators have identified McDonald as the dealer distributing heroin in Hampstead, Manchester, Finksburg, Westminster City and parts of Baltimore County.

Police believe that McDonald and Kidd were transporting drugs from New York for distribution.
