Worcester County Police observed an erratic driver in Ocean City near 8th street around 8:10 p.m.

A deputy tried to stop the vehicle but the 31-year-old driver fled from the deputy.

The suspect crashed the vehicle in the Berlin area, and allegedly stole another vehicle and proceeded to drive to Route 90 where he abandoned that vehicle as well.

K-9 units searched various areas including an area near Route 575, but to no avail the suspect was not captured.

Police say the suspect had allegedly burglarized a home and stole the occupant’s vehicle in the area of Light House sound. Police observed the suspect in a black SUV and attempted to stop him.

The suspect fled towards Delaware and led deputies on a chase through part of the state.

Once in the Ocean View area of Delaware the suspect came up on a dead end and backed his vehicle into a Delaware Law Enforcement Officer's marked patrol vehicle, almost striking a Worcester County Sheriff's Office Deputy's marked patrol vehicle.

The suspect turned around in a residential lot, and drove towards the officers who were now on foot.

The Deputy and the Delaware officer gave the suspect commands to stop but he continued to drive towards the officers.

The Deputy and the officer fired multiple rounds at the suspect before the suspect came to a stop.

Aide was administered to the suspect until EMS crews arrived to the scene. The suspect is listed in serious condition.

The Delaware officer was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries he sustained in the crash. The Deputy was uninjured.

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Maryland State Police, The Maryland Natural resource Police, and the Berlin Police during the incidents in Maryland.
