Police charged a Baltimore County man with for a brutal assault on an Ocean City bus that left a man dead.
After an extensive investigation conducted with Baltimore County Police, Ocean City Police issued a warrant for Darren M. Beattie, 21, of Sparrows Point. Beattie turned himself in Tuesday afternoon.
On May 29 around 2:30 a.m. police were called to the 136th Street and Coastal Highway for an assault. Officers transported 31-year-old Ryan Shupert to an area hospital where he died two days later. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland ruled the death to be a homicide.
The State's Attorney for Worcester County Beau H. Oglesby, commented, "This type of senseless, preventable and tragic situation should serve as a reminder to everyone who finds public fights anywhere in Worcester County acceptable - they're not. Not only are they unacceptable but people can lose their lives and others can lose their freedom."
