Early in the morning on Aug. 24, 1992, Herman Callahan was found shot just inside his home on Route 404 in Queen Anne's County.
Herman, known to everyone as "Dolly," was shot in the back, at close range, as he entered his home. Police believe the killer used a 12 or 16 Gauge shotgun.
Callahan owned two cattle farms and was a landlord to more than a dozen tenants. He also owned a liquor store and had racehorses. He known to be was a shrewd businessman and always had cash with him, but a large amount of cash was still on Callahan when police found him and cash was in his truck that was found about a quarter-mile away from where he was killed.
Police have never found the murder weapon, and believe the person who killed Callahan knew him. Detectives hope in the 24 years since his murder, the killer may have talked about it and someone can come forward with some information.
