North East man faces trial for Elkton murder

ELKTON, Md. -  

Forty-three year-old Troy Kelly will stand trial in March for the murder of James Pierce, who was killed after being attacked last August inside the Acme supermarket in Big Elk Mall.
 
Police say that Kelly struck Peirce multiple times during an attack in aisle 8 of the Acme grocery store. A store surveillance camera caught the entire incident. While medical attention arrived quickly, Pierce, 55, died at the hospital. 
 
According to police, Kelly and Peirce did not know each other. No motive has been released in the aftermath of the murder.
 
Since his arrest,  Kelly has been held in the Cecil County Detention Center, first on no bond and now in lieu of a half-million dollars bond. A trial by jury in Cecil County Circuit Court,  has been set for March 4th. The trial is expected to last for about week.
