A man authorities say was responsible for bricks of cocaine seized during a Cecil County traffic stop in 2010 was sentenced to 12 years in prison this week.
Lincoln Normando Moquete, 44, of Fort Lauderdale, will serve five years of supervised release following the sentence.
According to testimony, a Maryland State Police trooper stopped a vehicle on I-95 in Cecil County on March 9, 2010 for excessive speed and for making an unsafe lane change. The driver was “extremely nervous.” A K-9 was called and troopers seized 13 kilogram bricks of cocaine from the truck of the car.
Investigators say Moquete’s fingerprints were found on the plastic wrappings of the bricks and on the plastic bag holding the bricks. Evidence was recovered, showing Moquete had several phone conversations with the driver.
Investigators say the driver was transporting the cocaine to New York.
